My Sleeping Babies...

I love watching my kids sleep. It's one of the most peaceful things in the world. Sometimes I think I don't watch them enough, or take enough pictures of them while they are sleeping. So here are two.

The one of Kendall is of her during her nap time yesterday. Yep...she's on the floor. In her room. Right inside the gate I have to put up on her door to keep her in her room. She covered herself up like this. I went to get her up from her quiet time and this is exactly how I found her. So cute!!!

Beckett during his nap time. So peaceful. This is also after having him 'cry it out'. So he looks a lot better now than he did about 30 minutes prior to this picture! Ohhh! The pains of parenting!

6 months of Beckett

Beckett turned the big 0.5 yesterday and we had his 6 month well visit today with his doctor. Things are looking good!
He weighs 19 pounds 10 ounces (90th%) and is 27.5 inches long (also 90th%). Despite being big and tall, he is not fat - as he is only at the 50th% for height/weight ratio.
My major concern going in to this appointment was that he STILL is not rolling over and Kendall had done so at 4 months and started sitting up at 6 months. It is hard, as a mom of two, to not compare my two kids. Though I know Beckett will get to his major milestones when he is ready, I just can't help but to compare his lack of it to Kendall's success. Does that make sense?! I do feel like I am less worried with what his friends are accomplishing than I was the first time around...I don't worry about 'competing', I guess. which is healthier for everyone in every way imaginable!!! Every single mom out there, I'm sure, feels the same way!!!
I'm excited to see the changes in Beckett over the next 6 months. I'm excited to get to know the boy he becomes over the next 180 days and beyond. He's been a true joy for the last 6 months and every single day I am thankful I have such a healthy and happy little boy. I never thought I would enjoy having a boy as much as I have!

Princess Cooks

Kendall loves to stir her eggs in the morning. But this morning, she wanted to be a princess while she cooked. It was too cute not to take pictures. (I had to bribe her with ONE m&m to get her to smile. After I told her she would get one if she smiled - she was allllll smiles!)

(Post m&m bribe - doing what she needs to do to get that piece of candy!)

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!

I'm one lucky girl. I have an amazing family who love me. It was so nice to feel so loved yesterday. The Hubs and I aren't big gift-givers on holidays (ex: he got oven mits for Christmas last year), so I was looking forward to a day with lots of quality time, good food and relaxation with my husband and two kids...afterall, this was my first Mother's Day with Mr. Beckett.

The day started out at 5:45am, when Beckett woke up to eat. He eventually went back to sleep, but I was UP. Kendall, luckily woke up around 6:30/6:45 and this gave me an idea. I can't sleep. She can't sleep. Daddy was up working really late. Beckett's sleeping....Let's Go To Starbucks! So off we went. A little Mommy and Kendall time - so special on this special Momma Day. Little did I know, that Starbucks would be buying my Caramel Macchiato for me for Mother's Day. Can't get much better than a free cup of coffee!

When we got home, it was time for some yummy breakfast, champagne and cranberry juice, or mimosas. I chose all of the above. Yum.

This was followed up by a trip to Costco, and surprise Jamba Juice, and some quiet time at home while the other THREE took naps. It was heavenly.

Dinner consisted of tri-tip steak, green beans, potatoes and a bottle of wine we got on our wine tasting vacation last September. Best part about it was I didn't cook a single thing! I think the most I did was set the table. It was nice! (Though honestly, this isn't much different from my normal dinner duties!)

It was a great day with great company. Though, I did miss not being with my mom on her Mother's Day. She's a great mom and I'm lucky to have her. I pray my kids and I will have the same relationship when they get older as my mom and I do now. I owe her a lot. (Love you, Mom!)

Solid food....FINALLY!

Ten days before Beckett turned 6 months old (last Friday), I gave him his first taste of solid food. He was loving it! He did so good the first time, then the second time it took him a bit longer to get the hang of it again. And now we're in a pretty good routine of him sitting down for a meal with us at breakfast, lunch and dinner...IF he's awake.
I decided to start him on the solids now as it was only 11 days before his next well-visit with the pediatrician and he has been trying so hard to get to 'real' food lately. It just seemed sad to not let him try any longer!

I think Kendall was trying to 'help' him open his mouth by doing it herself. Always *such* a big helper!
