Seattle Rock N Roll Half Marathon

On Saturday I ran my second half marathon. It was a blast! The first one I did was about a year and a half ago and I remember thinking throughout the race 'This sucks. I can't wait for this to be over. I hate running." But somehow, I convinced myself that it really wasn't that bad, so I signed up to do the Seattle Rock N Roll.
I felt really good for most of the race. My legs started getting tight (mainly my calves) around mile 10. The fam was supposed to cheer me on around mile 5 so the first couple of miles went by fast because I was anticipating them. But, it turns out I ran too damn fast for them and passed the spot they were going to be waiting at about 5 minutes prior to them arriving...but they totally redeemed themselves by being at the finish line to see me cross it!
It also helped having my iPhone/Pandora radio to listen to. I also used a running app to give me updates on my progress every five minutes.
I was really worried about dehydration, so I drank over 120 ounces of water the day before. But, I probably should have been drinking that much water for a couple of days leading up to the race, and maybe my legs wouldn't have started to cramp up like they did.
There were WAY more hills than I was expecting...and BIG ones, too! I guess that's a good thing about living where I do, as we have LOTS of hills, and I have developed a loving relationship with the hills...though, its more love/hate when I'm pushing the jogger up them, too.
I'm already looking for more races to sign up for. I think the next one I'm going to do is a 10k in August. I'm looking forward to that one and running with a friend who I haven't run with since training for the first half.
Since my time on my first half was around 2 hours and 21 minutes, my goal was to beat 2 hours and 15 minutes. Here are my stats:

Total Time: 2:05:48

Pace: 9:36 per mile

5 km: 28:25

10 km: 57:12

9 mile: 1:25:23

Overall: 5172 out of 17083

Division: 553 out of 2161

Gender: 2465 out of 11458

Somebody's a big boy!

We took out the hammock-thing on Beckett's bathtub last week, so he's now able to sit up in the tub...we figured since he weighs almost as much as Kendall and barely even fits in the tub itself, it was time to move him to the next stage.
Yesterday, we even tried a bath without the blue tub at all...there were so many bubbles in the tub, that it made for one very slippery bath tub. I won't be doing that again for a little while...especially without any help!

Airplane!

Couldn't resist a few candid pictures of playing with my babies...it won't be long before they don't want me to play with them anymore...
Excuse the drool on Beckett (he cut his first tooth yesterday and has been drooling like crazy for the past 2 months!), and excuse mine and Kendall's jammies. It was a comfy evening!

First Movie

Kendall, Beckett and I went to our first movie theater together last week. There was a 'Mommy Matinee' at a near by theater, so I thought we'd give it a try. The movie was "Kung Fu Panda 2" and it was probably not the best choice of movie for Kendall's first theater experience. It was hard to follow and a little violent. She got scared at times, but sat quietly in her seat the entire time. I think she loved the idea of getting as much popcorn as she wanted the most!

The pics were taken before we left for the theater. She wanted her 'suitcase' packed full of bibs and for it to be loaded in the trunk (like mom and dad's suitcases do), and I'm not sure why she was wearing a bib...seems she likes to do anything and everything Mr. Beckett does. (Including, wear bibs, eat with baby spoons and sit in the highchair she has refused to sit in for over a year!)

Since she successfully sat through an entire movie, I bought the Cars DVD for us to watch. We watched it on Father's Day and had a great time watching together! Crazy how things change with the second kid, because we NEVER let Kendall watch any tv until she was probably about 15 months and now, Beckett already has seen 2 movies (but he did sleep during both movies for the majority of the time)!!! HA!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!

We are lucky to finally have Daddy home after being gone for a WHOLE week for work. This was the longest time Daddy had been away and we were wondering if we would survive...but we did! We kept VERY busy with friends and events, and I even cooked 3 meals! (Edible dinners even!)

So, when yesterday finally came and Daddy came home, we were all so very excited. And now we have a simple day of playing and relaxing planned and hopefully naps for all of us!

B: Thank you for being such a loving dad. It's so great to see your relationships with our kids grow. It's obviously the love and admire you so much!

We love you!

1/2 Marathon Training

My second 1/2 marathon is in less than 3 weeks. I'm really looking forward to it. It's the Seattle Rock N Roll 1/2 Marathon. I've been training pretty well for it - though I believe my longest run has only been 8.2 miles. (In case you didn't know a half marathon is 13.1 miles)
About a week and a half ago, I think I developed an Achilles Strain on my lower left leg, so I haven't done much running since this started hurting me. I'm getting nervous that this injury is really going to hurt my time.
I also have a horrible blister on my right heel from a night out on Saturday with horrible shoes on! It hurts and I can't wear shoes with backs on them right now...so now *this* injury is hurting my training, too! Ugh! Of course this all had to happen less than a month before the big race!
If anyone has any tips on how to make blisters heal up quick or how to make an Achilles Strain disappear overnight, I'd love to hear from you!
Wish me luck on my last 2 1/2 weeks of training! (Ooh, that just made me nervous! 2 1/2 weeks isn't very long!)

Sunshine. Finally!

We have finally had a couple of great days recently and we took advantage of no rain! Kendall had one of her favorite friends Summer over yesterday and they got to garden, ride the trike and scooter, get gas for their car from the gas station and even have a picnic lunch at the park!
I even got a little pink on my shoulders from being in the sun! It was heavenly!

(Right after I took this picture, I seriously got a look from Kendall that said, "Cut it out Mom, you're embarrassing me!". Ohh...she'll be giving me that look for many years to come!
